Unique SA-Standarte "Feldherrnhalle" photograph album to ex-Feldherrnhalle member and SS-Scharführer Heinz Spies
Price: £1750 - $3500
A superb photograph album to a member of SA-Standarte "Feldherrnhalle", the linen cover with full colour "Feldherrnhalle" shield and silver designation, "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit Standarte Feldherrnhalle." With the beginning of the Second World War, Spies undertook initial training in the RAD before joining the Waffen-SS with "Westland". The album spans his entire career with 158 photographs all captioned (some of the usual travelogue type photos included 28 in total). Included in the album or some excellent and rare photographs of Ordensburg Sonthofen, and some good photographs of his time with Westland. In particular are a couple of excellent photogaphs of his mess cupboard in barracks, open, and displaying his Westland uniforms. Further included is the death notice for Spies from 1942 and even a photograph of his SS grave.
