A late 1950s - early 1960s example of the Wartheland Gau badge manufactured by the firm of Souval
Price: £475 - $850
An exceptionally nice example of the Wartheland Gau badge manufactured by the firm of Souval just post-war. The closest thing to the pre-war examples, the Souval version has often been modified slightly to the back to make it appear as an original. This is how close this example is to the pre-1945 original. Only ever produced in very small numbers, this badge was never easy to find and was expensive when first produced. When Souval's original die wore out it was the end of the line, the badge was never produced again. This example is particularly early and has exceptionally fine detail and perfect enamel. The entire badge has toned down nicely with age. Reverse bears the minute L/58 Souval stamp. Perfect space filler while the collector awaits the exceedingly rare possibility of finding an original.

To protect them from further, the previous collector has had the documents laminated. It might be interesting to conduct further research on Weigel.
